UAE Federal Supreme Court

The Federal Supreme Court of the UAE will pass judgment based on civil and religious laws and the origins of these systems informed the interior design concept. Scholars describe the word 'sharia' as an Arabic word denoting 'pathway to be followed'. Origins of the civil Judicial Assembly are rooted in 12th century France where a sovereign and his entourage would meet to adjudicate disputes.

Following the direction given by the client, the court space is intended to be an environment of debate, guidance and learning rather than a place for discipline and punishment. The Supreme Court is a modern interpretation of the formal design of grand government buildings relating to Abu Dhabi being at the forefront of modern thinking while rooted in civil wisdom and local heritage. The interior design combines classical European detailing with traditional Arabic elements in a contemporary manner. The colour palette is based on light, earthy tones enriched with occasional intense accents.
