The Dammam office building embodies the age old architectural mandate of form following function. The main elevation represents a sleek design statement with horizontal fins along it's full length and which provide automated shading to the interiors. The structure is 'lifted' by one level which facilitates covered car parking for staff and visitors alike.
This detail also allows any breeze to flow through and provide natural cooling as well as merging the architecture and landscaping as a coherent whole. Working with a simple two part programme consisting of show room and office spaces, the building is arranged according to function. The long over height show room wing is oriented along a North / South axis which provides both street frontage and rear loading. The two storey office wing is rotated 90 degrees to an East / West orientation and elevated.
This design detail helps minimise solar glare to office spaces while offering a dramatic covered building entry. The internalised intersection of the two forms then naturally houses essential facility spaces such as primary circulation, male / female restrooms and office utilities.
