Jumeirah Group advanced plans to refurbish significant interior and exterior areas of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, a landmark wave shaped building located near the iconic Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Following the conclusion of the design phase for the projects, AK Design were approached by the client appointed PM firm to become involved in the site supervision phase as a key participant in the delivery of the scheduled renovations. With in-depth knowledge gathered from the design stages, AK Design were retained for the construction period. Jumeirah Group took the decision for the hotel to be shut down completely from early May to the end of September 2018 in order to expedite construction activities in an appropriate site environment absent of guests and visitors.
The project involved substantial fit-out works on both the North and South wings of the structure as well as related construction activities within the resort grounds. The extent of the areas which have been refurbished include: standard Guest Rooms x 379no, various Suites x 45no, Circulation Corridors x 12no on the North wing and Circulation Corridors x 24no on the South wing. Arrival Experience Areas include Entrance Lobby, Palm Court, Latitude Restaurant, Retail Zones as well as restrooms and lift cars. Other areas upgraded were the Premier Leisure Club, adjoining terraces, domestic pipework replacement and a complete overhaul of the Main Leisure Pool together with adjoining facilities. The entire spaces renovated have been calculated at circa 36,152m2.
